Trump Still Leads Biden in Historic Rematch

With former President Trump having been convicted of 34 felonies, and ending the hush money trial, Americans are now refocused on the historic Election Night historic rematch between the former President and current President Joe Biden.

President Biden, 80, is the oldest President in American History. His age has members of the Democrat party wondering if he still has the mental capacity to run the nation. President Trump still holds the lead over President Biden with voters ahead of the presidential election in November. According to the most recent public opinion poll, President Trump leads by slim margins in most polls. Trump leads with a 47% vote, while Joe Biden has a 45% vote among likely voters. This will be the first rematch election in almost 70 years.

Both candidates have been hosting rallies to gather support from their voters. Recently, Joe Biden hosted a rally in Philadelphia speaking on his accomplishments such as low unemployment rate, lower costs for prescription drugs, and student debt forgiveness. Biden also told the crowd, “Because you voted, Donald Trump is defeated former president, and with your vote in 2024, we're going to make Donald Trump a loser again.”

 Biden also made it a point to mention the benefit to black voters saying, "Supreme Court blocked me from relieving student debt, but it didn't stop me. So far, I've relieved student debt for nearly 5 million Americans, a significant number are Black borrowers. So, you can chase your dreams, start a family, by your first home, start a business and so much more."

Meanwhile, Trump’s most recent rally was held in the Bronx on May 23^rd.

The crowd for the rally was estimated to be several thousand.  Trump focused on courting the Hispanic and Black voters who make up the majority of the area’s population. Throughout his speech, he touched on a number of his campaign talking points, including deporting undocumented immigrants, crime in the city, and New York becoming a red state.

 "If you want to help, you must vote. I believe that we can win New York State," he said. " We have levels of support that nobody's seen before. … Don't assume it doesn't matter just because you live in a blue city. You live in a blue city, but it's going red very, very quickly," said Trump. New York has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election since 1988. Trump’s visit to the Bronx marks his fourth campaign stop in New York City during his criminal trial.

With the historic rematch approaching in November, both candidates are rallying support. The race remains tight, reflecting the significance of every vote in determining the nation’s future leadership.
