DeSantis, Moody, File Complaint in Court Against Starbucks 'Discrimination'

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Governor Ron DeSantis took over the Sean Hannity Radio Show Wednesday afternoon, hitting on topics like DEI and Hamas, and revealing that Florida will file a complaint against Starbucks for allegedly violating anti-discrimination laws.

"In Florida, [we will see whether] this ‘quota’ for hiring, and programs that cause every employee to determine whether they are the problem based on the color of their skin – [if] that violates Florida’s anti-discrimination law,” Attorney General Ashley Moody announced, referring to the multinational coffee chain's racial goals for their employees.

Following George Floyd's murder—a black man—by white police officers in 2020, Starbucks joined a slew of other companies pledging to increase diversity in their employment ranks, USA Today reported.

They wanted to achieve 30% of people of color in corporate jobs and 40% in retail and manufacturing by 2025. As of 2022, they fell short: less than half of all roles were filled by people of color.

Moody explained that the matter would be referred to the Florida Commission on Human Relations—the state's anti-discrimination board—for a "full investigation of Starbucks and these practices."

During the three-hour-long special episode, DeSantis also discussed the alleged "dangers" of leftism.

"There is no election in Florida between Trump and Biden...Biden has no chance in this state," DeSantis said, claiming the "militant left threatens our freedom."

"People know that Florida is a refuge...[from] indoctrination camps of universities," he continued. "We're not only fighting the left, we're beating the left."

He referenced campus protests with "Pro-Hamas" protestors, lauding Florida's ability to dissuade demonstrators in under 15 minutes.

"We don't let the inmates run the asylum here," he insisted.

DeSantis also touched on topics like communism, retail theft, and immigration, discussing with guests: Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, New College President Richard Corcoran, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, House Speaker Paul Renner, conservative activist Chris Rufo, and Congressmen Chip Roy and Thomas Massie.

Roy and Massie talked about their plans to defund the United Nations and the World Health Organization and end the Federal Reserve.
