Carlos Gimenez Disregards Mucarsel-Powell as a 'Leftist Hack'

Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) was ousted from the House in 2020, but now she's one of numerous Democrats challenging Senator Rick Scott (R) for his senate seat. Although the former congresswoman maintains that she is ready for a challenge, she faces floundering support from Democrats, and Republicans argue that Democrats have a right to question her strength as a candidate. In a social media post, Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) dismissed her candidacy as one of a "leftist hack."

Over the weekend, Rep. Mucarsel-Powell took to social media to condemn the Diaz-Canel regime, calling it "just as brutal as Castro's."

Senator Scott quickly responded, calling her a hypocrite and commenting that "actions speak louder than words."  Alongside his comments, which included him telling his Democratic challenger that "when you had the chance to defend the Cuban people and stand up to the radicals in your party, you cowered and followed the party line," he shared a video of her affirming her support for President Barack Obama (D) "to open relations and dialogue with Cuba."

Senator Scott then accused her of being "one of the radicals."

Rep. Gimenez also chimed in on social media, reminding voters that the same political weaknesses that cost her reelection in 2020 will be the same political weaknesses that will cost her election 2024.

He called her "a leftist hack who took some of the most fringe positions in Congress, including joining the socialist Progressive Caucus & supporting concessions to the murderous Castro dictatorship." "Our community rejected her already in 2020 (I would know!) & we look forward to fighting for another 6 years of our Senator Rick Scott!"

Senator Scott and Rep. Gimenez are scheduled to attend the Assault Brigade 2506 Museum in Hialeah Gardens to commemorate May 20th and to denounce "the Biden Administration's latest pathetic concessions to the murderous Castro regime in Cuba."
