Rep. Daniel Webster Lands Endorsement From Rep. Thomas Massie

Share

Rep. Daniel Webster has just announced that he has received the endorsement of Rep. Thomas Massie in the 2024 Presidential election cycle.

Why is this endorsement so significant?

Rep. Massie is endorsing Rep. Webster over his Republican primary opponent Attorney Anthony Sabatini, who he endorsed for Congress during the 2022 Republican midterm election in Florida’s 7th congressional district.

Massie appears to believe that Webster is the better, sounder choice than Sabatini, and may have taken a political shot at Sabatini by stating that he was endorsing Webster because he felt,” He puts principle above personal ambition.”

“Daniel Webster is a stalwart friend and ally. He puts principle above personal ambition, and that is rare in Washington,” said Rep. Massie in a press release. “Rep. Webster is a proven defender of freedom and liberty. I need him fighting alongside me now more than ever.”

As we mentioned, in 2022 Sabatini ran in a contested Republican congressional race and lost. Days after losing his race, Sabatini announced that he was looking to run against Webster CD 11.

To date, none of the congressional endorsements that Sabatini received in 2022—Reps. Thomas Massie, Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, Dan Bishop, Andy Biggs, and Senator Rand Paul—have endorsed him in 2024.

Webster responded to Massie’s show of support in the same press release:

"Throughout my time in Congress, Thomas Massie has displayed courage in our fights to reform Washington and cut wasteful government spending,” said Rep. Webster “Basic liberty and freedoms are under attack by the radical left, and it is my honor to defend the Constitution with fellow conservative fighters like Congressman Massie! I am grateful for his support of my campaign."

More members of the Republican Congressional Caucus will be announcing their endorsement and support for Webster in the coming weeks. One member of Florida's delegation said that he would be coming out in support of Webster very shortly but did not want to spoil the surprise. Webster has also received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
