Pro-Palestinian Protestors Support Iran's Attacks on Israel

With tensions in the Middle East continuing to grow, protestors in the United States from both sides of the Israel-Iran conflict are expressing their concerns.  This week, pro-Palestinian protestors in Miami, FL made a statement to US officials.

The demonstration specifically occupied Biscayne Boulevard.  The protest happened before the attacks by Israel on Iran this week, but after Iran attacked Israel.  Iran launched more than 300 missiles and drones into Israel.

CBS News asked the pro-Palestine protestors about their thoughts on Iran's attack, to which they supported it.  "Israel needs to be held accountable first because it's been six months, 190-something days. That is ridiculous," said Valentina Jadue, with the South Florida Coalition for Palestine.

Protesters supporting Palestinians, which includes several members of South Florida's Jewish community, say the U.S. is indirectly supporting mass genocide by funding Israel.

"It makes me sick to my stomach when I think that this is being done in the name of Jews and I am here saying I'm a Jew and I do not want a genocide," said Kyle East with Jewish Voice for Peace.

However, after Israel retaliated, it seems both sides are playing down the significance of the attack.  Israel's attacks allegedly took the lives of two Iranian generals, and many think this may be the tipping point for another great war in the region.

“It appears we’re closer than ever to a broad regional war, despite the fact that the international community will most likely make a great effort to de-escalate tensions,” wrote Amos Harel, the military-affairs commentator for the Israeli daily Haaretz.

With Gaza still being fought over between Hamas and Israel, and now Iran jumping into the mix, it looks like the Middle East could once again become a hot bed of conflict for the US military for years to come.
