Intragovernmental reports suggest President Joe Biden is facing increasing pressure from within his administration to exert additional pressure for Israel to cede on a Gaza ceasefire.
The report comes as President Biden has delivered a record number of humanitarian air drops into Gaza in the last several weeks.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) recently announced it conducted its largest humanitarian airdrop to date on April 9, delivering over 50,600 U.S. meal equivalents into Northern Gaza.
According to CENTCOM, the U.S. has dropped approximately 797 tons of humanitarian assistance supplies.
Despite the humanitarian assistance offered, anti-Israeli factions within the White House are demanding Biden place a stronger emphasis on Israel agreeing to a potential ceasefire.
Disagreements over the administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war have resulted in three resignations.
Recently, State Department official Annelle Sheline publicly resigned from the State Department after accusing Biden of not taking sufficient retaliatory measures against Israel.
Sheline alleged that, by supporting Israel, the Biden administration “enables” what she claimed “could plausibly be a genocide in Gaza.”
Besides decreasing military aid for Israel, Biden’s administration has sanctioned certain Israeli individuals and companies and warned of additional “consequences” if Israel executes their planned invasion of Rafah.
Most recently, Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that “an immediate ceasefire is essential to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation.”
However, other Biden allies have remained steadfast in their support of Israel’s war against Hamas.
US Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) has vociferously defended Israel against attacks from some of his own party’s leaders.
One front Representative Moskowitz has actively engaged in has been the debate over whether Israel’s Gaza actions constitute genocide.
Moskowitz has roundly rejected such arguments, recently ridiculing Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for forecasting Israel will be legally liable for genocide.
