Moskowitz Trolls Republicans with Bill to Rename Miami Prison After Trump

Share

In the latest instance of his signature brand of humor, Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) cosponsored the introduction of a bill to rename the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami after former President Donald Trump, mocking the former President's penchant "to write his name in gold letters on all his buildings" and alluding to the multitude of charges levied against Trump, who claims they are politically motivated.

The bill appears to mock a similar bill recently introduced by Representative Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA), which would rename Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. after Donald Trump.

"In my lifetime, our nation has never been greater than under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump. As millions of domestic and international travelers fly through the airport, there is no better symbol of freedom, prosperity, and strength than hearing ‘Welcome to Trump International Airport’ as they land on American soil," Rep. Reschenthaler told Fox News.

Rep. Reschenthaler's bill was cosponsored by Representatives Mike Waltz (R-FL) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), among others.

In his press release, Rep. Moskowitz seemed to parody the Pennsylvania Congressman's statement, "Everyone knows President Trump loves to write his name in gold letters on all his buildings. But he’s never had his name on a federal building before, and as a public servant, I just want to help the former president. Help us make that dream a reality."

This is not the first time the Florida Congressman has trolled Republicans.

In December, after House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) called him "a Smurf," Moskowitz paid expelled former Representative George Santos (R-NY) to make a video on Cameo sarcastically telling Rep. Comer "Happy Hanukkah" and referencing their argument where Comer tried to distinguish his family's land ownership from President Biden's supposed receiving of Chinese money through his brother James.

Further back in October, Moskowitz mocked Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) during House Republicans' inability to elect a Speaker after the expulsion of Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), saying the Ohio Congressman "apparently likes to take an L, and he will get another one tomorrow."
