Mills, Donalds Claim Potential Biden Move to Limit Migrants is 'Political'

U.S. Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Cory Mills (R-FL) spoke to The Floridian to voice their displeasure with President Joe Biden (D) after reports surfaced that he would be taking executive action to limit border crossings.

The move from the President – should he go through with it – comes at a time in which his approval ratings come in at anywhere between 37-42%, according to the latest polling. His approval rating on the immigration issue comes in the low 30 percentile.

Rep. Mills was perplexed by the idea that President Biden hadn’t made an effort to address the border sooner.

“He’s had that authorization for a long time,” said Rep. Mills. “He could’ve utilized 212 Section F – that unilateral executive authority to seal [the border] at any point in time. So, now he’s got enough people, he’s looking at consensus numbers, he’s looking at all the things that he tried to achieve, he’s going to his polling numbers above all things. Now all of a sudden he wants to take the executive action to do what he could have done when he first came in office.”

Rep. Mills continued by asserting this possible move from Biden is simply a political one.

“It’s about politics. If you think about it, the two key issues in every single district, every single state across the country, are the border and economics. That’s why even his own team is starting to advise him to not utilize the term ‘Bidenomics’ any longer because it’s been proven to be a failure. So, he’s doing this purely from a political perspective, not because it’s the right thing to do as he should’ve done when he came in [to office].”

Furthermore, Rep. Donalds agreed that the potential executive order from the Commander-In-Chief is not for the sake of the governed but for his polling numbers.

“It’s all politics. His numbers suck, he knows that. So he’s trying to figure out ways to remedy that before the election. But this is why, in my view, we should have used every single legislative vehicle possible to force his hands on meaningful change, not political change that’ll look nice in a press release,” said Rep. Donalds.

He would also mention that funding a government to perform in a way that does not serve conservative principles – such as illegal border crossings – should never happen.

“I think that the key thing is a budgetary process is there for a reason. We funded the government, but we funded the government to do what? Still allow illegal immigrants to cross our borders with impunity? We shouldn’t have allowed that. That’s where you start and you go from there,” said Donalds.

The Florida congressmen both voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
