NAPLES, FL—First Gentleman to Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, John Passidomo, passed away Monday afternoon following a sudden fall in Bryce Canyon National Park.

"The President has lost the love of her life, and is absolutely devastated by this sudden and unexpected accident," President Pro Tempore Dennis Baxley wrote in a memo.

The Passidomos were hiking in Utah when John fell and suffered "massive trauma" to his head. Fellow hikers assisted in sustaining the First Gentleman's life, and he was soon transported via ambulance to a local hospital. He was then airlifted to a regional trauma center and sadly passed away at 72 years old at 3:21 p.m. Monday.

"Please join me in praying that the grace and peace of God, our Father, our hope and comfort in times of distress, will be with the President and their entire family during this unimaginable time of sorrow, and in the difficult weeks and months ahead," Baxley said.

The couple met in law school and was looking forward to celebrating their 45th anniversary in September. They had three daughters and three grandchildren.
