Trump Challenges Biden to Debate

The Republican primary came to a close this week as Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) suspended her presidential campaign. This officially makes the 2024 general election a 2020 rematch. Though President Donald Trump (R) has not participated in a single debate thus far, he is now challenging President Joe Biden (D) to debate.

For months, voters expected the upcoming election to be a 2020 rematch. It was made official this week after President Trump scored big wins on Super Tuesday. In addressing voters that evening, President Trump shifted his attention to President Biden, making what political pundits called "the first general election speech."

President Trump subsequently took to Truth Social to address the future of his campaign, making it clear that he is now prepared to debate the president.

"It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American people. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention on this matter!" President Trump shared on social media.

President Biden has not responded to the challenge, and pundits question if he will accept the challenge.

Given that the president has experienced sinking polling numbers, and voters from both sides of the aisle have questioned his cognitive skills, he will have to address the challenge as well as the mounting political concerns.

One of those concerns, which would take prominence in a debate, is illegal immigration at the southern border. The issue has become a top priority for voters, especially after the death of Laken Riley.

Former Press Secretary Jen Psaki drew criticism this week for mocking the subject with Rachel Maddow.
