Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business's “Varney & Co.” to discuss President Joe Biden’s (D) leadership as Haitian migrants are attempting to flee their homeland – with some making their way toward the United States – amidst the nation’s political turmoil.

The Florida congressman called on the Biden administration to set up some form of a “protection barrier” for the Sunshine State.

“We need to be calling on the Biden administration to [secure] Florida and the country from people trying to use flotillas and boats and ships to come into America and just get off. At some point there has to be a protection barrier for the state of Florida, the way there should definitely be one for the southern border. That is the Biden administration – they need to do,” said Rep. Donalds.

He continued by expressing his frustration with the lack of proactiveness from the Biden administration as the Haitian crisis has been bubbling for months.

“Secondarily, we’re at the same issue again. Joe Biden dithered. It was 18 months ago when the Haitian President was assassinated. What did the administration do then? Nothing. They watched this catastrophe. We’ve now abandoned six embassies under Joe Biden’s watch. A catastrophe for our nation,” said Rep. Donalds.

Furthermore, the Florida congressman questioned the inaction of the President despite Haiti’s proximity to the United States’ shores.

“Since Haiti is close to us, should we step in and actually try to do something to help stabilize that country? Yes, we should. But first and foremost, you got to protect American citizens, especially here in Florida.”

Finally, Donalds said that it’s time for the Biden administration to be voted out.

“Secondarily, this administration frankly needs to go because they have no strategy. They’re always late to every crisis that they watch and that they create.”

Last month, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) announced that he and his team rescued a group of 10 Americans from the “Have Faith Orphanage” in Haiti on Monday.

In a statement, Rep. Mills exclaimed that President Joe Biden (D) has shown a “clear pattern of abandonment” after he and his team rescued Americans on their own.

“I am proud to report that my team and I were successful in evacuating and rescuing a trapped, and at risk group of Americans from ‘Have Faith Orphanage’ in Haiti last night. This recent mission reiterates a disturbing reality that under President Biden’s leadership American lives are continually jeopardized. I have conducted rescue/ evacs of Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them. There’s a clear pattern of abandonment! Afghanistan 2021. Israel 2023. Haiti 2024,” said Mills.

“Americans at home and abroad are more unsafe under Biden than ever before. We need President Trump back in the White House as the world can’t afford 4 more years of Biden’s failed administration,” the Florida congressman concluded.

This is a developing story.
