DeSantis Signs Three New Bills to Combat Illegal Immigration

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has signed three new bills this morning that will curb illegal immigration. The issue remains a top priority for voters heading into the November election, and issues have only been exacerbated with rising political tension in Haiti. With illegal immigration concerns teaching the tipping point, Governor DeSantis is responding with three bills meant to curb the situation.

This morning, Governor DeSantis held a press conference in Polk County, introducing the three bills he would be signing as well as highlighting what the state has dealt with, which Lt. Governor Jeannette Nuñez (R) called "the utter failures of the Biden Administration."

In the press conference, Governor DeSantis informed that "within the last couple of weeks... our Florida fish and wildlife officers interdicted a vessel that had 25 illegal immigrants... from Haiti in their boat. They had firearms, they had drugs, they had night vision gear, and were boating very recklessly, which could potentially endanger other folks. That vessel was interdicted near the Sebastian inlet, and those illegal aliens were turned over to the coast guard for deportations."

The governor went on to lay blame at President Joe Biden (D), arguing that he "is flouting the law," and Governor DeSantis warned that "Haitians can get to the United States easier by flying to Mexico and walking across the border."

Florida's Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) also spoke at the event, praising Governor DeSantis by saying that he "has done more than any other governor in the country. Lamenting that "there is no doubt our country is less safe," the attorney general also directed blame at the president, warning that "we have a president who does not care what is happening... he is actively fighting states that are trying to do their work for them."

"Put down the ice cream cone, pay attention, and let's save lives."
