Ashley Moody Secures 15-Year Sentence For Human Trafficker

TALLAHASSEE, FL—A human trafficker who forced two New York women into sex work has just received a 15-year prison sentence, thanks to Attorney General Ashley Moody’s prosecution team.

Alan Dixon, working with accomplice Shantell Woods, brought two New York women to Florida to enlist them in prostitution under threats of physical harm.

“This human trafficker brought two women from New York into Florida, who were already trying to flee a violent situation, and then forced them into sex work under threats of abuse, taking the proceeds from the illicit services for himself,” Moody said in a statement Wednesday morning.

Dixon set daily payment quotas for the women, forcing them to perform sexual acts under threat of physical violence.

His accomplice Woods posted online advertisements of the women, and scheduled the “dates” they were meant to attend.

Dixon, meanwhile, kept all of the illicit proceeds for himself.

“Human trafficking is an atrocious crime, and now thanks to our Statewide Prosecutors, this trafficker faces a long sentence behind bars,” Moody said of his 15-year prison sentence.

Investigated by the Seminole County Sheriff’s office and prosecuted by Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution, Dixon was charged with two counts of transporting from outside the state of Florida for the purpose of human trafficking an adult and one count of unlawful use of two-way communications device, among other charges.

Last year, Governor DeSantis signed two anti-human trafficking bills raising penalties for the illegal act and cracking down on trafficking hotspots.
