Scott Decries Biden’s ‘Bad Border Policies’

President Joe Biden (D) has announced that he will be visiting the southern border on Thursday. This happens to be the same day that President Donald Trump (R) will be visiting the border. In response, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) is slamming his plan to visit the border, warning his “bad border policies” have hurt Florida families.

Last week, President Trump announced that he would be visiting Eagle Pass, Texas on Thursday, which has been at the center of controversy after Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) took hold of the location to address issues pertaining to the border. This week, President Biden announced that he would be taking a trip to Brownsville, Texas, where he would be meeting with U.S. Border Patrol agents, law enforcement, and local leaders.

However, President Biden has faced mounting criticism over his perceived mishandling of the border, and ahead of his visit, the Border Patrol Union has released a statement criticizing him.

Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd argued that “a visit by President Biden three years into his term and after repeatedly stating there is no crisis is too little, too late.”

“Whether stating it himself or through WH Press Secretary Karin Jean Pierre, Biden has said he’s done everything he can to secure the border. If that was the truth, and it wasn’t, there would be no point in visiting the border now,” Judd said.

“Even if he were to put the proper policies in place at this late hour, he’d be doing it only to try to save his Presidency. And self-serving actions when time is winding down should always give Americans pause,” he added, noting that “common sense dictates that as a lame duck, he’d revert back to his open border policies if re-elected.”

Senator Scott, chimed in on the conversation, expressing that “Florida families have been hurt by Biden’s bad border policies since the day he took office.” Sharing his own experience at the border, the Florida lawmakers shared that he has “seen how Biden’s policies enable human trafficking and allow deadly drugs and criminals to pour into our country.”

Calling President Biden’s planned visit “nothing more than a cheap photo-op,” he suggested that if the president truly cares about making a difference, “he would do it TODAY.”
