Mills Say's U.S. was Safer Under President Trump

Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) sat down for an exclusive interview with The Floridian to discuss recent developments regarding global conflicts and foreign policy from an American perspective, and to assert that the U.S. was safer under President Donald Trump than with President Joe Biden.

During the interview, Rep. Mills spoke on the United States’ current engagement with Iran despite Congress not declaring war.

“Think about it: we are at war with Iran. And this is why I fought so hard with Congressman Matt Gaetz and others to repeal these authorizations of use of military force which is a complete abdication of congressional authority when it comes to War Power Acts, the Article I Section 8 Clause 11. Or even the 1973 War Powers Act.”

He continued by mentioning that the strides President Joe Biden (D) and his administration have attempted to make have not been positive for the country and its image.

“The bottom line is that we are not safer as a nation. We are not safer in the way the world sees us. Whether it be our allies or whether it be our adversaries. Indo-Pacific command is concerned about China’s continual aggression toward the unification of Taiwan,” said Rep. Mills. “And meanwhile, we’re doing these retaliatory attacks, this tit-for-tat with Iran that we give them almost an entire week to withdraw their leadership so that we don’t actually make a real impact.”

Furthermore, the Florida congressman compared the Biden administration's actions to those of former President Donald Trump (R).

“This is very different, a stark contrast to President Trump where he eliminated Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Quds force as well as for Abu Mahdi al-Mahundis, who is the leader of the PMF that we just struck one of their warehouses for. So what you’re seeing right now, is not only the forecasting of what we’re going to do, the foreshadowing, if you will, we’re saying we’re going to make these attacks and giving them time to actually either react or plan counters.

“But the question that I asked long ago is that why does everything have to be done in kinetics? Why can’t we start thinking about the influence operations? Why can’t we talk about non-kinetic activities of economic sanctions, diplomatic isolation, military readiness? What have we done at Outpost 22 in Jordan, to try and now harden that structure, which we found out was not a hardened structure to begin with? So, we’re setting them up for what? A retaliatory attack that takes out more soldiers? You know, we’ve been very fortunate with the 159+ attacks in Iraq with the 32+ attacks that’s occurred out in the Red Sea, that we haven’t had more of our armed forces that’s been killed,” concluded Mills.

The Sunshine State congressman represents Florida’s 7th District.
