AT&T Cellular Outage Affects Tens of Thousands

Share

An AT&T cellular outage has affected the U.S., and lawmakers are quickly scrambling to find the cause. The outage affected tens of thousands of AT&T customers, who reported having difficulties with their internet, home phones, and mobile phone services.

At about 4:00 A.M., over 32,000 AT&T outages were reported according to NBC News.

Reports then fluctuated until reaching a high of 50,000 around 7:00 A.M. Most of the issues were reported out of Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta according to the tracking site Downdetector.

So far, there has been no announcement regarding the cause of the outage, and AT&T acknowledged the concern through a statement this morning, notifying that “some of our customers are experiencing wireless service interruptions this morning.”

Since then, AT&T has provided an update, informing that their “network teams took immediate action and so far three-quarters of our network has been restored.” “We are working as quickly as possible to restore service to remaining customers,” the statement continues.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) took to X to comment on the concern.

Admitting that he doesn’t have an idea as to what caused the outage, he went on to warn that “it will be 100 times worse when China launches a cyber attack on America on the eve of a Taiwan invasion. And it won’t be just cell service they hit, it will be your power, your water and your bank.”

Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) also took to social media to share that he had reached out to AT&T in the morning to receive an update on the concern.

“Florida law enforcement is doing everything it can to keep people safe, and I expect AT&T to keep us informed on what it is doing to get 911 services fully back online ASAP,” he shared.
