Scott Unloads on Biden's Handling of Border, Foreign Policy

Share

Two of the most common angles of criticism of the Biden Administration by Republicans have been the border crisis and foreign policy. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) unloaded both of those barrels in an interview with The Floridian, first accusing the White House of allowing the border crisis to happen and then saying nothing they have done in foreign policy has worked.

Regarding the border, Sen. Scott said that "Democrats are simply lying" about the state of affairs, and the requests for more funding to secure the border ring hollow as "they have more money now than they had under [former President Donald] Trump. And they cannot secure the border."

As a result, he suspected "this is a clear policy of the Biden Administration to have an open border," which had been previously alluded to by Representatives Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) and Kat Cammack (R-FL).

Additionally, Sen. Scott blasted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as "somebody that has lied to Congress, he has [committed] dereliction of duty [to] do his job [to] secure the border. Homeland Security is partially to make sure that we do not get terrorists, drugs, and criminals across the border, and we have got a completely open border right now," expressing support for impeaching Mayorkas.

In October, Scott sounded the alarm on the shockingly high number of border crossers on the known terror watchlist, which at that time was over 150, and fears have persisted that a terror attack on American soil is only a matter of time.

On a similar note, The Floridian asked Scott for his take on the Biden Administration moving to redesignate the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) after a series of attacks on the Red Sea targeting international trade.

"I cannot think of one thing the Biden Administration has done with regard to foreign policy that has worked," Scott answered, citing examples such as the Ukraine war, the lack of support for Israel as they battle Hamas, and their failure to contain Iran, sponsor of both Hamas and the Houthis.

"So the Houthis are shooting at our men and women in uniform, and the Biden Administration is barely pushing back," Scott continued, referencing recent strikes authorized by the White House against the rebels. However, he stated, "We could have stopped this if we had done the right thing before. We should have held Iran accountable like President Trump did."

"We should demolish the Houthis. I mean, if you want to shoot at us, then you are going to die. Do not try to kill an American sailor without knowing you will be dead," Scott concluded.
