New polls suggest Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has made up lost ground among Republican primary voters in New Hampshire.
Haley became the last Republican alternative remaining, aside from former President Donald Trump, after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign last Sunday.
Governor DeSantis’ exit followed President Trump’s historic landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses last week.
President Trump garnered 51% of the vote while Gov. DeSantis came in 2nd with 21%, narrowly edging out Haley by 2 percentage points.
Since then, Trump has called for the Republican party to “come together” and unite to support his candidacy in order to defeat President Joe Biden in the 2024 November elections.
However, Haley has refused to back down and has even increased her attacks on the former president, most recently questioning whether his mental fitness permits him to serve again.
Haley has also criticized Trump for his alleged illegitimate claims regarding her record while in office.
Whether Haley’s anti-Trump strategy will resonate with New Hampshire voters will soon be seen as Republicans in that state head to the polls today.
The latest polls demonstrate a clear Trump lead, but one poll suggests the race may be much closer.
A poll from the American Research Group, Inc. found Haley and Trump separated by a mere 2 percentage points, with the former and the latter coming in at 44% and 46%, respectively.
The poll surveyed 350 Republicans and 250 undeclared voters, which could explain Haley’s surprising results given independents have tended to favor her more than Trump.
Surprisingly, however, Haley concentrated a higher percentage of the male vote in the poll than Trump, raking in 49% to Trump’s 45%.
Conversely, Trump secured 46% of female poll participants while Haley only managed to receive 37% of support.
On the other end of the spectrum, an InsiderAdvantage poll found Trump has a sizeable lead over Haley to the tune of 62% to 35%.
