The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that the Biden Administration could remove the razor wire installed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) to stem the flow of migrants over the border. Gov. Abbott has remained defiant and said he would continue placing wire. Florida Republicans, including Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express solidarity with Texas and call for border security.
To reiterate, the Biden Administration sued the State of Texas for Gov. Abbott's activation of the National Guard and Military Department installing razor wire along the border. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the administration and said they would be allowed to remove Texas's wire.
"This is not over. Texas' razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages. I will continue to defend Texas' constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property," Abbott responded defiantly.
Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the Sunshine State would "keep assisting Texas with personnel and assets," while criticizing the Court's decision as going against the Constitution.
"If the Constitution really made states powerless to defend themselves against an invasion, it wouldn’t have been ratified in the first place and Texas would have never joined the union when it did. TX is upholding the law while Biden is flouting it. FL will keep assisting Texas with personnel and assets," Gov. DeSantis's full statement read.
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) echoed Gov. DeSantis by saying, "Governor Abbot is 1000% correct. If Joe Biden won't secure the border, the States will. God bless Texas!!"
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said, "I stand with Texas. The federal government & Congress have no business interfering with the State of Texas. I will oppose any effort by ANY member of Congress to prevent states from protecting THEIR citizens. A balance of power was established by our founding fathers and I will ensure is it is protected."
Lastly, Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) posted, "States have the right to protect their citizens when the federal government refuses to. Florida stands with Texas."
