He has denied having intentions to run for President in 2024, but it appears as if California Gov. Gavin Newsom is being groomed to replace ailing President Joe Biden during the 2024 presidential election cycle.
According to a source who asked that we keep his or her name out of this story, Gov. Newsom has been spending quite a bit of time at the White House, and according to some members of the White House security detail, or Secret Service, Gov. Newsom has made several visits to President Joe Biden.
The source said that he or she was privy to conversations with officers who poked fun at how many times Newsom has come to town over the past few months, and several of those officers believe the Biden White House appears poised to hand over the reigns to Gov. Newsom.
While it is highly unlikely, The Floridian has also learned that former First Lady Michelle Obama is being considered for the Vice President slot, a move that obviously leaves current Vice President Kamala Harris high and dry going into 2024.
Why would Mrs. Obama settle for the VP gig instead of running for President?
We reached out to the White House press office for comment and to formally request the visitor's logs that could show how many times, if any, Newsom visited the White House during 2023. We have not heard back, yet.
“I have deep respect, reverence for Joe Biden as a person, his character, his decency and his capacity to do great things,” Newsom told Newsnation’s Chris Cuomo. “That’s why. I’m not worthy of that conversation. This guy deserves it, and we as members of the party deserve to have his back.”
“At the end of the day, I’m about someone who can put the best team on the field. I’m for someone who actually can produce the best results,” Newsom said in defense of Biden. “I’ve seen two-and-a-half years of a master class of result making.”
Both former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis, who are currently tangled in a very contentious GOP presidential primary race, do not believe President Biden will be the eventual Democratic presidential nominee.
“This is a slick, slippery politician whose state is failing,” said Gov. DeSantis of Newsom during a recent debate between the two men on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” TV show.
DeSantis has asserted that Newsom was running a shadow presidential campaign just in case Biden’s campaign continues to trip over itself.
Newsom, who said he was backing Biden and not seeking to run against him jabbed back at DeSantis and his struggles against former President Trump in public opinion polls.
“How’s that going for you, Ron? You’re down 41 points in your own home state,” said Newsom, who is backing Biden for president. “Neither of us will be the nominee for a party in 2024,” quipped Newsom.
Days after the DeSantis vs Newsom debate, former President Trump stated that he also didn’t think Biden would be the eventual nominee.
"I personally don’t think he makes it," Trump told Sean Hannity during a town hall debate in Davenport, Iowa hosted by Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
If Biden were to drop out of the race, for whatever reason, Democrats would have to wait until their presidential convention or later, to decide who their nominee for president would be because qualifying dates for early voting states have already come and gone.
Considering how fluid American politics have historically been, and you throw in the fact that Biden is suffering from an unquestionable cognitive decline, Democrats could be circling the Biden wagon and may push their leader out to keep Trump from defeating him.
Now, this is assuming Trump wins the Republican primary election. National polls show Trump defeating Biden in a head-to-head match-up.
The Iowa Caucuses will take place on January 15, 2014, with the New Hampshire primary election taking place a week later.
If DeSantis fails to create significant distance between himself and former Ambassador Nikki Haley and close the gap with Trump, it could be lights out for the “America is Florida” Gov. DeSantis.
