A new NBC News poll indicates that President Donald Trump (R) leads President Joe Biden (D) among young voters. However, Democrats are still hopeful that President Biden will come out on top in the 2024 election.

In the survey, President Trump is polling higher than President Biden, scoring 46% to President Biden’s 44%.

President Biden has faced significant scrutiny on numerous issues, and this has put him at odds with members of his own party. Moreover, political pundits and lawmakers alike have questioned whether or not President Biden should even be the nominee come the 2024 election, which has given rise to speculation that California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) will replace him as the candidate.

While there are some Democrats that have directed criticism at Biden, others remain hopeful that he will not only continue to lead Democrats but also that he will defeat the Republican nominee in the general election.

One of those Democrats is New York Senator Richard Blumenthal (D).

During an interview with NBC News, Senator Blumenthal was asked about the recent poll and the likelihood that it could affect Biden’s campaign.

Senator Blumenthal largely disregarded the poll, assuring that Biden “will overcome those poll numbers.”

“Even more important than the polls are what voters are doing,” Senator Blumenthal continued, citing recent elections in Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania as an example of what voters want in the country.

Senator Blumenthal explained that voters “showed that they preferred the Biden record of accomplishments over the mega [sic] extremism.”

Trump has recently been on the offensive against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who’s polling in second place in the Republican primary. Governor DeSantis, once viewed as a clear alternative to Trump, now faces sinking polling numbers.

On November 30th, Governor DeSantis will debate Governor Newsom for 90 minutes.
