Trump Hosts Mar-A-Lago Event for Grassroots Supporters

Share

With his numbers surging, and with endorsements continuing to pour in, President Donald Trump (R) hosted a Mar-a-Lago event to celebrate grassroots supporters. The event reportedly hosted 250 guests, which included a slew of Florida lawmakers that have endorsed the president over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

The event comes after Trump hosted a Hialeah rally the same night as the third presidential debate. The rally was well attended, and it was in that rally that Trump had graphics dubbing Florida “Trump Country.”

One former lawmaker who attended the event, Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R), shared a picture on social media of himself attending the event, captioning it with “great to be at Mar a Lago tonight – let’s take our country back & imprison the Bidens.” Sabatini challenged Florida Rep. Cory Mills (R) to represent Florida’s 7th congressional district in a losing battle.

Aside from Rep. Mills attending, other lawmakers that were present at the event included Florida Reps. Mike Waltz (R), Byron Donalds (R), Brian Mast (R), Matt Gaetz (R), Greg Steube (R), and Carlos Gimenez (R), who faced a wave of boos when he spoke at Trump’s Hialeah rally.

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Christian Ziegler was also in attendance, having welcomed attendees in the evening, and state Senator Joe Gruters (R) introduced Trump.

The Republican Party of Florida has shared that it will stay neutral in the presidential race, given that Trump and DeSantis are both nominees from Florida, but they have also commented that this does not bar them from attending events from Republican candidates.

While Trump is the clear frontrunner in the Republican primary, faring well against President Joe Biden (R) in recent polls, the numbers do decline when Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (I) enters the mix.

A recent Quinnipac University poll indicated that RFK Jr. polls better with young voters between 18-34.
