Trump Calls DeSantis ‘a Wounded Bird’

Share

President Donald Trump (R) posted a series of videos this week on social media, slamming the media, his political rivals, and President Joe Biden (D). In one video, Trump likens Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to “a wounded bird falling to the ground.”

The third Republican primary debate will take place on November 8th in Miami. Trump is expected to skip the debate, as he’s skipped the previous debate, and instead he will host a rally in Hialeah on the same day. However, though he’s shown little interest in taking part in the debates, the presidential hopeful has directed verbal jabs at his Republican opponents.

In a video posted on social media, Trump comments on both DeSantis and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R).

“Polls show me leading Social Security/MediCare hating Ron DeSanctimonious by 50 points and even more,” says Trump in the video, adding that DeSantis “has single-handedly caused Florida to have the highest insurance costs in the entire nation, and it’s not even close, and they’re going up in a rapid rate.”

When comparing their polling numbers, Trump argued that DeSantis appears to be “a wounded bird falling to the ground.”

In reference to Haley, Trump once again invoked birds, calling her “bird brain.” He referenced Haley’s comments that she would not launch a presidential bid if Trump was running for office again. Haley would then walk back her statement as both Trump and Haley are now aiming to clinch the Republican nomination.

In the end, Trump argued that the goal for Republicans should be to unite and defeat “the worst and most incompetent president by far,” which he says is President Biden.

DeSantis has struggled in the polls after once being viewed as an alternative to Trump.

The Florida Republican Assembly has called on DeSantis to suspend his presidential run, urging him to focus on his duties as Florida Governor.
