Ryan Fournier, a co-founder of the Students for Trump organization, has been arrested. Fournier is accused of having assaulted a woman with a deadly weapon.
Fournier faces charges of aggravated assault in North Carolina, having been arrested last week.
Fournier co-founded Students for Trump in Campbell University in 2016, and he is in charge of leading the conservative activist group called Radical Alert. The organization described itself as an organization that “exposes” political “radicals” on colleges campuses.
According to court documents, Fournier is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the arm and hitting her over the head with a handgun. The same day that he was arrested, Fournier was released on a $2,500 bond.
Students for Trump has also faced controversy with co-founder John Lambert being arrested and sentenced to 13 months in prison in May 2021 for posing as a lawyer in a fraud scheme.
Fournier frequently shares political commentary on social media, most recently commenting that President Joe Biden (D) "has created death and destruction." His next court appearance is scheduled for December 18th, 2023.
The arrest comes as President Donald Trump (R) is gaining steam in South Carolina. Despite Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) running for the presidency, South Carolina residents took part in a video supporting President Trump and chiding Ambassador Haley.
One voter slammed Ambassador Haley for allegedly making promises that she couldn’t deliver as Governor of South Carolina. Another resident argued that Ambassador Haley should be President Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick. However, given that President Trump has dubbed Ambassador Haley “Bird Brain,” the likelihood of that happening is low.
