Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) made headlines after she posted a video calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. However, what drew the attention of many lawmakers around the country was Rep. Tlaib’s endorsement of some of the messaging within the video.
Within the social media post, viewers can see Palestine supporters from Michigan – Tlaib’s home state - chanting “From the river to the sea,” a rallying cry for Hamas (the full chant is “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”). Graphic Content Below.
Theoretically, if Palestine were to be free “from the river to the sea,” then Israel couldn’t exist.
Tlaib’s video then ironically showcases the message, “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people.”
Senator and presidential candidate Tim Scott (R-SC) called her video “insane.”
“Insane. Rashida Tlaib is literally an extension of the propaganda machine of Hamas,” said Sen. Tim Scott.
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) called Tlaib a “spokesperson” for terrorists.
“Rashida Tlaib is a spokesperson for Iran-backed Hamas terrorists. It’s disgusting that she is giving these Jew-hating monsters a voice in Congress,” said Sen. Rick Scott.
Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) rejected Tlaib’s assertion that the majority of Americans do not buy her rhetoric.
“When Rashida Tlaib says ‘from the river to the sea’ she is calling for the DESTRUCTION of Israel as a Jewish State. The ‘majority’ of Americans do NOT buy this dangerous, anti-semitic nonsense.”
Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) also called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict. He has not commented on Tlaib’s video as of yet.
However, after the release of the video, he released a statement saying “Antisemitism is a serious and real problem.”
“Antisemitism is a serious and real problem across the country. Yesterday the House voted on a resolution that included important sentiments condemning antisemitism on campuses, but Republicans added falsehoods & inaccuracies that push unhelpful misinformation,” said Rep. Frost.
Days after the attack on Israel committed by Hamas, Rep. Tlaib seemingly justified the attack, calling Israel an "apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance" and demanded that funding for the Jewish State to stop lest "this heartbreaking cycle of violence will continue."
In July, Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) was asked about a House Resolution that affirmed the governing body’s support for Israel that Rep. Tlaib voted against.
"Vast amounts of Democrats around the country support Israel and the overwhelming amount of Democrats in Congress support Israel. There are 212 of us that are supportive of Israel and voted for that resolution. So, if there are seven or eight of us that disagree, they are wrong, but they are entitled to their opinion," Moskowitz concluded.
This is a developing story.
