The Center of Effective Lawmaking has honored Florida's own US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) as the third most effective lawmaker in the United States Senate.
The rating is based on fifteen metrics used to measure effectiveness and are measured against bills proposed by each respective Senator. Party and seniority are also taken into consideration.
Rubio ranked second among Senate Republicans, finishing only under Senator John Cornyn (R-TX). Rubio introduced a total of 194 bills and had ten pass the Senate. Six of those ten have since become federal law. In his initial term in the Senate, he sponsored just 17 bills, and he was among the less-effective lawmakers in his party. Since the 115th Congress, however, he has continued to be among the top-10 most effective lawmakers among Senate Republicans.
Within the research, Rubio is branded as "Conservative." This is crucial as Cornyn, and the majority of Republicans are labeled "moderates." While conservatives like Cornyn may outnumber Rubios on this list, it could reflect how hard it is for Republicans to get bills through a Joe Biden (D) presidency.
Rubio has been an infamous critic of the president, taking shots at "Bidenomics" in a new ad, claiming Bidenomics is "killing the American Dream." The name is a moniker for the president's economic plan that Democrats of all factions have united behind.
