Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R) has officially endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for president. The endorsement comes after Gov. Reynolds said that she would remain neutral in the 2024 Republican presidential race.
Governor DeSantis has struggled in the polls, and behind the scenes, there have also been obstacles to overcome concerning his campaign team. However, for Republicans, he remains the the popular candidate to defeat President Donald Trump (R) in the primary despite polls showing the contrary.
Although Reynolds has campaigned with several presidential hopefuls across Iowa in recent months, Gov.Reynolds assesses that despite polls showing President Trump ahead of both DeSantis and President Joe Biden (D), she believes that DeSantis is the best choice for Republicans to win the White House in the next election.
“I just felt like I couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer,” she expressed, adding that “our country is in a world of hurt, the world is a powder keg, and I think it’s just really important that we put the right person in office.”
Appearing alongside DeSantis at a campaign rally in Iowa, Reynolds told the crowd that “we can turn this country around, but if we don’t get this next election right, if we don’t choose right, we are not going to get this country back, so we have to do everything we can to make the right choice.”
“Not only do we need to make sure we elect someone who can win and beat Joe Biden. We need a president who has the skill and the resolve to reverse the madness that we see every single day. We need someone who will fight for you and win for you. We need someone who won’t get distracted but will stay disciplined, who puts this country first and not himself. That leader is Ron DeSantis,” she added.
