Florida Conservative State Lawmakers Demand Biden ‘Fix’ Border

Share

Republican Florida state legislators are attempting to pressure President Joe Biden into increasing immigration enforcement measures at the southwest border.

Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R) and Representative Tyler Sirois (R) filed identical bills to officially denounce the ongoing illegal immigration crisis.

The bills criticize President Biden’s flexible policies regarding immigration and list some of the issues and problems states are now having to face in response to the crisis.

Among some of the problems noted are the “increase in violent crime, gang activity, the trafficking of dangerous drugs, such as fentanyl, sex trafficking, human trafficking, and the threat of infectious diseases.”

Florida’s national Republican politicians have also weighed in on the issue with a similar perspective.

Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-Fl) recently derided Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Christopher Wray for their inaction on the border crisis.

Representative Gimenez took issue with suspicious individuals, potentially linked to the fentanyl inflow into the US from Mexico, slipping into the US under the FBI’s and DHS’s watch.

"They are right there, we know who they are, we know where they are operating, and we do nothing about it. That is a dereliction of duty," Gimenez said.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fl), a child of Cuban immigrants, also expressed discontent with the illegal immigrant surge.

In an exclusive interview with The Floridian, Senator Rubio claimed the Biden administration is directly responsible for inciting increased illegal immigration.

Rubio explained such increase was due to Biden’s reversal of immigration enforcement measures installed by former President Donald Trump

"When Biden won, the numbers spiked because the perception was basically, 'Whatever Trump did on immigration and migrants, I am going to do the opposite,' so you are basically sending out a message, 'I am going to be lenient,' so that spiked almost immediately," said Sen. Rubio
