DeSantis Says Trump is Easily Distracted

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is once again going after President Donald Trump (R). After criticizing Trump for not delivering on his campaign promises, Gov. DeSantis now claims that Trump is easily distracted.

Gov. DeSantis made the comment during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper over that past weekend.

Tapper cited an interview DeSantis did in Iowa wherein he expressed that “Trump was obsessed with crowd sizes at his inaugural.” When asked to expand on his criticism, DeSantis explained that, when Trump was elected president, the country had just been through eight years of President Barack Obama (D), and “Republicans had a lot of pent-up demand to see some change.”

Trump “was the vehicle for that. He made some promises and then it just seemed like every little controversy would bubble up, and he would get distracted by going down those rabbit holes,” DeSantis commented.

Instead of giving in to distractions, DeSantis expressed that Trump should’ve instead focused on why he was elected to the White House.

“Every single day, the narrative, the chatter, is gonna try to divert you off course, and you just need to have focus, you need to have discipline that you’re gonna be able to get the job done and wade through all the choppy seas,” DeSantis said.

“Why he cared about the crowd size? I don’t know, but I can tell you this. If I had been in his shoes, I would’ve declared the border to be a national emergency on day one, and I would’ve begun the mobilization to make sure that we secure it and build the wall. That did not happen under his administration, and now the situation is as worse as it’s ever been,” DeSantis further explained.

The DeSantis campaign has been mired with sinking poll numbers, but the Florida governor remains hopeful that he will best Trump in the end.
