DeSantis on Discount at Florida GOP Summit

Share

Kissimmee—Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave arguably his most moving, on-point, and Republican-red meat presidential campaign speech at the Republican Party of Florida’s  (Florida GOP) “Freedom Summit.”

But even after several standing ovations and a booming conclusion to his speech, Gov. DeSantis’s words did not bolster sales at the events-only campaign swag booth.

The booth, which consisted of about 95% Trump products, was selling discounted DeSantis baseball hats at $5 while selling Trump hats at the full price of $15.

One individual working the booth said that she had never had such support for any one political candidate.

The amount of sales was about 10 to 1 or more in favor of the Trump items.

It goes without saying that the room belongs to Trump.

Because DeSantis products were not selling, those products were relegated to two large plastic bins placed on the floor.

The only DeSantis items that were somewhat selling were the baseball hats that had “Governor Ron DeSantis” inscribed on them, not the DeSantis for President hats.

Earlier in the day, the Republican Party faithful exploded in applause and cheer when Sen. Rick Scott, who recently endorsed Trump, said that only Trump would be able to bring back the U.S. from the decline it finds itself in.

Earlier in the day, The Messenger's Marc Caputo reported that a handful of state legislators flipped their support from DeSantis to Trump.

According to Caputo, State Senators Debbie Mayfield, Anna Rodriguez, and Ileana Garcia, and State Reps. Webster Barnaby, Jessica Baker, Alina Garcia, Kevin Steele, Mike Beltran, Juan Porras,  and David Borrero, all came off the fence or flipped their support from Gov. DeSantis to President Trump.

Rep. Randy Fine was the first Florida lawmaker to flip his vote to President Trump.

But as The Floridian first reported last April, this legislative mutiny could be the tip of the proverbial political iceberg.
