Amid a contentious 2024 presidential primary battle, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is taking on the equally prominent Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) in a showdown called, "The Great Red vs. Blue State Debate."
The event will be hosted by the Fox News Channel by longtime host, Sean Hannity. The event will be a live 90-minute presentation in Alpharetta, Georgia. The debate will also be simulcast on Fox News Radio. After the debate from 10:30-11:00PM will be a reaction panel to the debate.
The debate is anticipated to center around the contrasting approaches to governing the two governors have utilized. Hannity will also dive deeper into issues that are exclusive to each state including the economy, immigration, and crime rates.
While DeSantis has been teeing up the Newsom debate for months now, it is hard to see this event as anything other than DeSantis desperately attempting to boost his poll numbers in the Republican presidential primary. Some numbers show DeSantis behind President Trump (R) as much as 50 points.
Recently, DeSantis has started swinging down at other candidates instead of upwards at the former president. Recent attack ads against Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) have created doubt in DeSantis' confidence moving forward this primary season.
Along with the CEO of Desantis' biggest Super PAC resigning as of recently, internals continue to look dismal for the DeSantis campaign. Debating Newsom should make or break the future of the Ron DeSantis campaign and will be very forthcoming about his future political endeavors.
