CFO Patronis Offers Gratitude to FSU QB after Season-Ending Injury

After Florida State University’s star quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a gruesome lower leg injury on Saturday which effectively ended his collegiate career, Florida Chief Financial Officer and FSU Alumni Jimmy Patronis sent a letter to the FSU QB, thanking him for his time with the program.

For those unfamiliar with the Florida State athlete, Jordan Travis hails from West Palm Beach, Florida, and has been with the football team since the 2019 season. He grew up a fan of the Florida State Seminoles. His brother played baseball for the team.

His development as a player and as an ambassador for the University has been in lockstep with the resurrection of the football program.

CFO Patronis said that Travis “made the State of Florida proud.”

“Thank you to FSU Football QB Jordan Travis for your dedication & leadership throughout your time in Tallahassee. You’ve made the State of Florida proud and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. #GoNoles #FinishFor13,” said Patronis.

Within the letter, the FSU Alumni and self-proclaimed “lifelong Seminole fan” reassured the Senior student-athlete that he left “a great legacy.”

“While I am sure that you are disappointed that your time at Florida State has ended with this injury, I just want to ensure you that you are leaving a great legacy at FSU. Every Florida State fan has you to thank for this fantastic season and so many great memories along the way,” said Patronis. “What you have accomplished with Coach Norvell these past seasons, I believe, will be held up as an example of the best our program has to offer for many years to come.”

Despite being on the team in 2019, Jordan Travis didn’t receive the starting quarterback nod until midway through the 2021 season, leading the team to a 5-7 record despite an 0-4 start. In 2022 – as the solidified starter – Travis and the Seminoles made the leap with a 10-3 record, beating both Miami and Florida in the same year. It was the first time that had happened since 2016.

Now, the Seminoles boast an 11-0 record with a chance to win both the Atlantic Coast Conference and the College Football Playoff. However, they’ll have to do it without Travis.

Patronis reflected on Travis’ career at Florida State, saying that it will “always have a special place in his heart.”

“On a more personal note, I must admit that your time at Florida State will always have a special place in my heart because it served as an opportunity for me and my two sons, Johnny and Theo to bond. My boys are 15 and 13, and much like their daddy, they are die-hard Seminoles,” said Patronis. “Our time together getting to cheer you on in garnet and gold has been nothing but pure joy, and I cannot begin to thank you enough. I imagine you have given this opportunity to countless families throughout the great state of Florida, and I hope you know how special that really is.”

He concluded by saying, “I wish you a speedy and complete recovery, and I can’t wait to see the fantastic things you will go on to accomplish after your time at FSU. You will forever be a Seminole legend.”

The ’Noles will travel down to Gainesville to take on the Gators in The Swamp on Saturday at 7 p.m. for both squad’s regular-season finales.
