Waltz Blames Iran for Funding Hamas

Over the weekend, Florida Rep. Mike Waltz (R) likened Hamas to the Taliban and ISIS. As Florida lawmakers continue to play an important role in the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, Waltz recounted his time fighting ISIS and blamed Iran for funding Hamas.

Florida lawmakers have voiced their support for Israel during this time, but Republicans have heavily disagreed with President Joe Biden’s (D) response to Americans in need and the support that the U.S. should be providing.

In an interview with Fox News, Waltz discussed the ongoing war and the threat that Hamas poses in the Middle East.

Describing the strategy of Hamas militants, Waltz explained that they “are going to use human shields. They are going to use hostages and literally chain them to military targets.”

He went on to explain that this was similar to his time at war with ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban, explaining that “they would literally put on burqas or women’s clothing and blend in as they’re taking shots or hiding behind civilians as they take shots.”

Waltz argued that Hamas is “Iranian-backed” and that “as more civilians die, you’re going to see the Anti-Semites and the UN start to chirp in, you’re going to see European leaders get weak kneed, and eventually, at the end of the day, we can’t lose sight of who’s calling the shots here.”

As Waltz notes, “it’s 100% Iran.”

“They put the guns, the ammo and the training in Hezbollah and Hamas’ hand, and for the administration to say ‘well, we didn’t see them pull the trigger’ is a bunch of garbage and they know it,” Waltz commented.

Republican criticism has pointed to $6 billion that were given to Iran in exchange for five Americans that were imprisoned. The money had been transferred to Doha, Qatar, and it could be used by Iran for approved purchases.
