WASHINGTON, D.C.—After the House Republican Conferenced failed to come to a consensus on who they would vote to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) told The Floridian that the argument House Democrats were making against Republicans over military funding for Israel was “BS.”
With Israel engaged in an all-out war with the terror group, Hamas, House Democrats have been arguing that because the Republican-controlled House did not have a sitting Speaker, Republicans were holding up much-needed funding for Israel.
“The Senate has to pass their bills. They need to pass their bills, we need to go conference with the Senate and figure it from there,” said Rep. Donalds,” adding,” That’s BS. Tell the Senate to get to work. Maybe they should come back and vote on it?”
The Senate is back in session next Monday,
Donalds’ colleague, Rep. Kat Cammack (R), also pointed to the $3.3.billion House Republicans appropriated for funding to Israel, including the bipartisan support and funding for the Iron Dome defense system, but that the Democrat-controlled Senate has failed to bring the spending measure to a floor vote.
“The Senate needs to take that. Why have they not done that,” asked Rep. Cammack.
The Biden administration believes that Congress needs to take “urgent action” to fund Israel after the terror attack that has left 1,200 Israelis, foreign nationals, and Americans, dead.
