Scott Blasts Planned China Visit by Schumer

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) intends to visit China this coming week, a move Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) criticized in a recent appearance on Fox's Mornings with Maria, calling it "pure appeasement."

Sen. Scott began by describing a bill he introduced that would prohibit taxpayer-funded trips to China for government officials, citing the acts of hostility the Chinese have committed against the United States.

"They kill our citizens with fentanyl, they send spy balloons, they build their military, they threaten our allies, they steal our jobs. They basically lie, cheat, and steal, and then we are going to appease them?" asked Sen. Scott, echoing previous comments made in September about Xi Jinping being a "bully" who "lies, cheats, and steals."

Host Maria Bartiromo questioned why Sen. Schumer would visit a blatantly hostile nation, citing additional examples of Chinese aggression such as the secret police stations abroad and international border violations.

Scott answered, "Schumer generally travels to get awards, so maybe he thinks he is going to get an award for passing the CHIPS bill, which allows companies like Intel to continue to expand in China with our tax dollars, or maybe [China] thanking him for blocking the bill that would stop America from importing solar panels made by slave labor in China."

"It is just pure appeasement. They [the Chinese] are not going to change. China lies, cheats, and steals. There is nothing good about their government. They are despicable in how they treat their citizens, but it is horrible what they are trying to do to the American way of life," Scott continued.

Bartiromo pointed out that former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe once called China's strategy to "rob, replicate, and replace," especially in the context of American industry. However, the Biden Administration is not doing enough against it, speculating Biden is compromised as Representative Mario Diaz-Balart suggested in late June

"It sure looks like it," Scott said, "Why doesn't he come out and say exactly what happened with how all this money came from China to his family?" referencing the recent discovery of $250,000 wired from China as part of one of First Son Hunter Biden's business deals going to President Biden's Delaware residence.
