New York Attorney General Letitia James’ Lawsuit Against Trump Derided by Scott

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the trial into former President Donald Trump’s alleged fraudulent business practices begins, Senator Rick Scott criticized New York Attorney General Letitia James for filing the lawsuit.

Senator Scott critiqued Attorney General James for plotting to prosecute President Trump even before she became Attorney General.

“Letitia James campaigned on a rabid desire to pursue Trump using the political power and taxpayer-funded resources of the office she was seeking before she had any evidence of actual wrongdoing,” claimed Scott.

Claiming the entire lawsuit is politically motivated, Scott broadened the scope of his attack to the overarching Democrat party for its desire to undermine President Joe Biden’s political opponents.

While Republican presidential hopefuls and high-ranking members within the party have recently increased criticism of the former president’s debate absences, they have staunchly opposed his legal prosecutions.

Florida Rep. Cammack, who is one of a handful of members of Florida’s Republican congressional delegation that has not endorsed President Trump, stated on ‘X’ that the cases against President Trump are nothing more than a “Witch-hunt.”

According to the BBC, Trump attorneys are claiming “the decision to pursue charges against President Trump while turning a blind eye to others” demonstrates the biased nature of the prosecution.

Trump took to Truth social during a recess in the trial to criticize trial judge Arthur Engoron’s handling of expert evidence.

“The highly political, Trump Hating Judge just stated that expert testimony is not evidence. Well, that means that every trial in American history has to be thrown out and started all over again!” said Trump

The media bonanza that Trump’s multiple legal battles has sparked is likely to subsist for the coming months, as none of the cases look to be anywhere near a potential resolution. Florida Senator Marco Rubio warned of the perilous precedent set by initiating prosecution against former political leaders.

“Those who decided to start using indictments, prosecutors & even mug shots as weapons in a political campaign have unleashed a destructive new era in American politics. Now, for years to come our criminal justice system will be used to target candidates in both parties & the harm this will do to America will take a long time to fix,” stated Sen. Marco Rubio
