Moskowitz Calls Out Anti-Semitism on Both Sides of the Aisle

Share

During a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing on religious persecution, Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) called out both sides of the aisle for having anti-Semitism within their ranks.

He also mentioned former President Donald Trump (R).

“Donald Trump had dinner with a Holocaust denier at his house … I want to make this committee bipartisan because this is a bipartisan issue. Anti-Semitism is bipartisan. And there’s plenty of bipartisan silence of what’s happening to Jews in this country on the left: ‘Gas the Jews, kill the Jews, glory to the martyrs’ celebrating Hamas killing of innocent people,” said Rep. Moskowitz.

He continued, “At GW (George Washington University) last night, my alma mater, ‘Glory to the martyrs,’ glory to the people that raped women. That killed babies in their cribs. ‘Glory to those people.’ Both parties are failing because you know what? Each of them have no problem calling out anti-Semitism when the other side does it. The Republicans will call out the ‘Squad,’ Democrats will call out Republican members when they say Jews and space lasers.”

Moskowitz went on to mention the notion that elected officials are incredibly hesitant to call out members of their own party when it comes to anti-Semitism.

“No, but it is much harder to do it when it’s within your own ranks. Much harder within your own ranks. That’s when we see the silence. Jews have often wondered why it took so long for people to come to their aid during the Holocaust, why millions of people were slaughtered. For people to come to their aid. Now we know,” said Moskowitz.

He asserted that it is the anti-Semitism on both sides of the aisle that have failed to support the Jewish people throughout history.

“Now we know why it took so long. And we also know because we see it in this country, in the streets and in the halls of Congress. We now know who those people are, who wouldn’t come to our aid now,” he concluded.

After the horrific terrorist attacks committed by Hamas against Israel, a Muslim Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) - and member of the Squad - showcased a Palestinian flag outside her office.

Moskowitz, a Jew, responded with a flag of his own.

“New Flag added outside my office!” said Rep. Moskowitz.

Days after the attacks, Rep. Tlaib seemingly justified the attack, calling Israel an "apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance" and demanding funding for the Jewish State to stop lest "this heartbreaking cycle of violence will continue."

In July, Moskowitz was asked about a House Resolution that affirmed the governing body’s support for Israel that Rep. Tlaib voted against.

"Vast amounts of Democrats around the country support Israel and the overwhelming amount of Democrats in Congress support Israel. There are 212 of us that are supportive of Israel and voted for that resolution. So, if there are seven or eight of us that disagree, they are wrong, but they are entitled to their opinion," Moskowitz concluded.

The Israeli-Hamas conflict has entered its third week.
