Luna Questions Opposition to Jim Jordan in House of Representatives

The search for a new speaker of the house continues, and Republican lawmakers are beginning to get frustrated. A new speaker of the house would be tasked with leading the house on numerous important issues while also uniting the Republican party. However, infighting has led to disagreements over who should assume the role. Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R) took to social media to slam Republicans opposing Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (R).

After news began to spread that Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise (R) was withdrawing from the race to become House Speaker, support quickly began to mount for Jordan to become speaker.

However, similar to Scalise’s nomination, Republicans have mounted an opposition campaign.

This has infuriated Republicans like Luna who argue that lawmakers have to get back to work.

“You guys want to go 15 rounds? Fine. Let’s do it. On the floor. For the country to see. This Monday,” Luna said on social media, citing the contentious voting process for Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R).

“You want to explain to your voters why you blocked Jordan? Then bring it.. because from the calls I’m getting. [sic] they are asking me what’s going on,” Luna added.

Luna then argued that she has an infant son and has been “trying to figure this out while members of Congress LEFT” before calling on Americans to call their rep and let them know who they want them to vote for.

As Luna explained, Congress is “going on two weeks with no speaker,” there is “a war in Israel,” and there are “appropriation bills due in 30+ days,” so it’s crucial to elect a new speaker.

Chiding Republicans who are attempting to block Jordan, Luna shared her frustration, saying, “I didn’t get elected by Washington and I’m not letting this country to hell in a hand basket because of egos.”
