Lee Questions Masih Alinejad on Threat of Iran

Share

The attacks in Israel carried out by the Hamas terror group earlier in October offer evidence of how dangerous their benefactor, Iran, is. Representative Laurel Lee (R-FL) questioned Iranian-American journalist and activist Masih Alinejad on the threat of Iran's government to its own women and girls and to the rest of the world.

Rep. Lee reiterated Congress's support for Israel and dedication to aiding their efforts to eradicate Hamas. Additionally, she said, "This Administration must recognize that Iran will negotiate in good faith, bears responsibility for strengthening terrorist proxies around the world, and is still a state sponsor of terrorism."

This echoed similar comments made by Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL), who said that the Biden Administration must make "a 180-degree turn" in their policy with Iran, as they would continue funding terrorist organizations if the White House stays course, even with the destruction of Hamas.

Rep. Lee's questioning of Alinejad turned to highlight the various human rights abuses the Iranian regime has inflicted on its citizens, most notably women and girls. Alinejad described how women have been beaten severely for not wearing hijabs properly, while girls as young as seven have been removed from schools for the same offense.

"If you do not call it gender apartheid, what do you call it?" asked Alinejad, listing further inequalities perpetrated against women, such as requiring a husband's permission to travel abroad, not being able to run for office, go to stadiums, or simply sing and dance.

"That is why I believe that Democrats and Republicans can get united and help us to expand the definition of apartheid in all international law to include gender as well," Alinejad continued.

Lee then asked how the Homeland Security Committee, Congress, and America as a whole could aid in securing women's rights in Iran, to which Alinejad answered the US and other democratic countries to "name the Islamic Republic as it is, gender apartheid. Second, support the civil society in Iran, and third, instead of negotiating with the killers, negotiate with women, negotiate with the opposition, and be ready to see an Iran without the Islamic Republic."

Alinejad chillingly continued saying, "The Islamic Republic is more deadly than the coronavirus. They are going to infect the rest of the world."

And the United States has started to show symptoms with sympathizers in the White House and recent attacks against American troops in the region by Iran-backed proxy militias.
