With the recent horrific terrorist attack on Israel, Palestinian-Israeli tensions have become a politically contentious topic in the United States. Now one of Florida's most outspoken lawmakers on the issue, State Rep. Randy Fine (R) has come out guns blazing on the issue and targeting Democrats who side against Israel.
Around 900 Israelis were killed and videos captured of the event were so graphic that many social media platforms, like "X", removed them from the public's view.
US Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is a Muslim herself, has previously made controversial statements about the United States and Israel, has referred to Israel as an apartheid state and suggested cutting foreign aid from the US-ally in the aftermath of a conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians in 2021.
With the recent attack in Israel, Rep. Omar has not gone as far as she has previously but has still given a rather neutral statement on the issue.
"Reminder, Gaza doesn't have shelters or an iron dome and to please pray for them. May peace prevail in the region and move us towards a moral awakening to care about the human suffering we are seeing. Palestinians are human beings who have been in besieged and are deserving of protection from the international community," stated Omar.
The statements caught the attention of State Rep. Fine, who in response to the attacks has called for "the streets of Gaza to overflow with the blood of these animals," animals referring to Palestinians. Rep. Fine specifically responded to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D), who still has a Palestinian flag displayed at her congressional office. Fine stated on X, "She is a terrorist and should be treated as such."
It looks like the conflict is just beginning as many Americans have called for quick and decisive action against the Hamas terrorist group. The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel's government have already declared war against Hamas.
