DeSantis and Newsom set to Debate, Engage in Hair Wars

Share

With California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis having agreed to debate on Fox News “Hannity” political TV show in November, the real question that needs to be asked of the two men is,” Who has the best hairstyle?”

Depending on who you ask, those individuals will tell you that Gov. Newsom has the best haircut in politics.

But don’t think that Gov. Newsom believes that he has a better haircut than DeSantis.

Shortly after the second Republican presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California,  where Gov. DeSantis had a 'breakout' performance, Newsom was asked who he thought had better hair, him or DeSantis.

Newsom responded, “He does.”

The Newsom-DeSantis political “Battle of the follicles” began when DeSantis critiqued Newsom during a press conference in 2022 where he stated, “I think his hair gel is interfering with his brain function.

DeSantis hair gel remark came after Newsom sent a letter to the Department of Justice demanding that the government prosecute DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for redirecting illegal aliens to states like New York, Massachusetts, and California.

Days later, Newsom challenged DeSantis to a debate on illegal immigration.

In a statement, Newsom addressed DeSantis's hair gel remark.

“Since you have only one overriding need -- attention --let's take this up & debate. I’ll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray. Name the time before Election Day,” stated Newsom.

In taking a close look at both of their hairstyles, DeSantis sports a parted traditional cut that appears to be loosely held together by some hairspray, while Newsome appears to be channeling his inner Italian “Goodfellas” gangster and wears a combed, slicked-back pompadour or quaff.

But DeSantis hasn't always sported this look. During his days as a Navy Jag officer, DeSantis would wear a traditional military cut.

This is vintage DeSantis.
