Wasserman-Schultz: no Evidence for Biden Impeachment Inquiry

Share

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) has endorsed an impeachment inquiry for President Joe Biden (D), and Democrats are pushing back. With Republicans supporting the inquiry and Democrats calling foul play, everyone is weighing in on the topic. Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D) slammed the inquiry, commenting that there’s no evidence against the president.

During an interview with MSNBC, Rep. Wasserman Schultz was asked to respond to the impeachment inquiry.

“I think what’s become very clear, if it wasn’t already, is that Kevin McCarthy is the CEO of the wholly owned subsidiary that the House Republican Conference has become of the Trump campaign,” Wasserman-Schultz commented. Sharing a clip of her interview on social media, the Florida Democrat further expressed that there’s no evidence for the impeachment inquiry. Instead, she attributes it to “just Trump’s command to impeach.”

“MAGA Republicans are turning the people’s House into an arm of the Trump campaign,” she said.

One notable Republican who disagrees is Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R). The outspoken critic of the president took to social media to share his thoughts on the inquiry, saying that “the weight of evidence that Joe Biden received bribes from Ukrainian oligarchs and Chinese Communist Party officials is overwhelming.”

“The House is doing the right thing by opening this impeachment inquiry,” Cruz added.

While Republicans are celebrating the inquiry, Democrats like California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) are criticizing Speaker McCarthy for pursuing the inquiry.

However, Speaker McCarthy is determined to seek this inquiry, citing an abuse of power and that the Biden family has received special treatment. He will be presenting evidence from House Oversight Chair James Comer (R) and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R) in support of impeaching the president.

The inquiry also marks an important step in obtaining bank records and other documents that are related to the Biden family.
