Wasserman Schultz Calls McCarthy 'CEO' of Trump Campaign

Share

The internet has been abuzz with Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) announcement of a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) was asked about the news during an appearance on MSNBC Reports, where she called Rep. McCarthy "the CEO of the wholly-owned subsidiary the House Republican Conference has become of the Trump campaign."

In other words, Rep. Wasserman Schultz accused House Republicans of impeaching President Biden solely for the benefit of Donald Trump, similar to comments made by her colleague Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL).

"No evidence, just Trump’s command to impeach. MAGA Republicans are turning the People’s House into an arm of the Trump campaign," tweeted Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

Rep. Moskowitz had similarly said there was "zero evidence" against Biden, and the inquiry was "to appease their lord and savior Donald Trump." Additionally, he excoriated Republicans for moving forward on the inquiry rather than focusing on government spending and disaster relief.

"First day back in session, and what is House Republicans’ top priority? Not funding FEMA. Not defending Ukraine. It’s impeaching the President with zero evidence to muddy the waters and appease their lord and savior Donald Trump," tweeted Rep. Moskowitz.

Wasserman Schultz echoed Moskowitz by saying House Republicans are allowing Trump to "hold the economy hostage" and "crash" it since budgeting and spending are also on the table for the House now that it is back in session.

"They are succumbing to Donald Trump and from their right-wing MAGA base, and they are allowing Donald Trump to hold our economy hostage, and they are giving in to their extreme MAGA wing and they will potentially, likely crash our economy, all while engaging in... they are afraid. They know they have nothing there, that there has been no evidence. And so they are using this word "inquiry." He just said they are going to move forward on impeachment. He is in the pocket of Donald Trump," said Wasserman Schultz.
