Wall Street Journal Ranks FIU a Top 5 Public University

Share

While the buzz around Florida International University has primarily come from state-level within Florida, FIU has been further legitimized by being ranked the #4 public university by the Wall Street Journal.

With FIU Law School, Medical school and various undergraduate programs rising in national rankings, the school as a whole is being recognized for these accomplishments.  The College of Public Health and Social Work is 15th in the nation and their law school now belongs to the top 60 JD programs in the nation.

When accounting for non-public schools's FIU sits at 29th nationally, still putting them above and beyond the vast majority of academic institutions.  The rankings were made by The Wall Street Journal and College Pulse, in collaboration with the independent market research firm Statista. The America's Best Colleges 2024 ranking seeks to guide prospective students across the nation while recognizing the colleges doing an outstanding job in higher education.

The rankings were based on student alumni surveys of over 60,000 undergraduates and recent undergraduate alumni were asked by College Pulse to provide feedback on colleges that are a great value.  Student outcome metrics were also measured, comparing salary impact vs. similar colleges, the number of years to pay off net price, and graduation rates vs. similar colleges. An assessment of level of diversity on campus also was a part of the analysis.

"FIU is a great return on investment and this ranking is the latest indication that FIU is providing an excellent university experience, in and out of the classroom, that supports student success,” said FIU President Kenneth A. Jessell. “This is more proof that FIU is Forward-thinking, Innovative, Unstoppable."
