Mast Urges Congress to Get Spending Under Control

Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) is calling for congressional spending, as well as the national debt, to “get under control.” In doing so, the Florida congressman asserted that high inflation and a rise in gas prices are due to President Joe Biden (D) and his administration’s policies.

In a blog post, Rep. Mast wrote, “It’s not a coincidence that just as President Trump passed the biggest tax cuts for all Americans and started to spend less, our economy saw its full potential and grew at an unprecedented rate. It’s also not a coincidence that after President Biden and the Democrats tried to roll back those tax cuts and spent like there’s no tomorrow, we are seeing such huge inflation in grocery and gas prices.”

He would go on to mention that the negotiated debt limit bill signed earlier this year did not “maximize the rare opportunity” to address the nation’s $32 trillion national debt.

“I voted against the debt limit bill that President Biden and Speaker McCarthy negotiated. While Speaker McCarthy did what he could to tap the brakes on President Biden’s irresponsible spending habit, I don’t believe it maximized the rare opportunity to address major threats to our economy and our national security: the $32 trillion national debt and Democrats’ liberal agenda,” Rep. Mast stated.

Additionally, he called “Bidenomics” nothing but a “sham PR campaign.”

“Bidenomics is nothing but a sham PR campaign. Americans can see the prices for themselves and know just how disastrous this Administration’s failed policies are,” said Mast.

Finally, Mast warned Congress and the nation at large that they have just one month to pass spending bills in order to fund the government for the next fiscal year.

“Congress has one month to pass the spending bills that fund the federal government for the upcoming fiscal year. We need to take a good, hard look at how your tax dollars are being spent, and finally rein in this out-of-control spending,” concluded Mast.

In August, Rep. Mast called for American energy to be “unleashed” through the passage of the Lower Energy Costs Act, first introduced by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).
