After House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-FL) announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden (D), Florida legislators provided their immediate reaction. Some were serious, others – not so much.
In the Speaker’s announcement, he stated that House Republicans have “uncovered serious and credible allegations.”
“I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Over the past several months, House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct – a culture of corruption,” stated Speaker McCarthy.
Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) mentioned in an official press release that “There’s plenty of smoke.”
“There’s plenty of smoke coming out of the White House which justifies an impeachment inquiry,” said Rep. Gimenez. “As a career firefighter paramedic, I know firsthand that where there is smoke, there is fire. I FULLY support Speaker McCarthy’s decision to pursue an impeachment inquiry.”
Before the formal inquiry was announced, Governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis (R-FL) that Vice President Kamala Harris (D) has been “impeachment insurance.”
“DESANTIS: Kamala Harris ‘has basically been his impeachment insurance cause people know no matter how bad Biden is, NOBODY wants Harris!’” the DeSantis War Room X account provided.
However, Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) believes that Republicans in Congress are ignoring the problems that America faces: disaster relief and funding the government.
“First day back in session, and what is House Republicans’ top priority? Not funding FEMA. Not defending Ukraine. It’s impeaching the President with zero evidence to muddy the waters and appease their lord and savior Donald Trump.”
He would go on to showcase a meme of Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) as a pawn shop owner, not providing the best deal for Americans.
“American people: ‘Can we get disaster relief and keep the government open?’ MAGA House Republicans:” said Rep. Moskowitz.
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) recently stated that he believes President Biden is a co-conspirator in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) alongside his son, Hunter Biden.
If the President knew that Hunter was representing foreign nations without being registered to do so, Rep. Donalds, in an interview on Fox Business, stated that it is “more than enough” to continue the House’s inquiry.
“There’s a lot of progress being made on this front. We’ve been subpoenaing records about this very thing because it’s not just that Joe Biden had to take money into his accounts, if Hunter Biden was paying for things for the benefit of Joe Biden, that is more than enough,” said Rep. Donalds.
He would go on to mention, “Hunter Biden is in violation of FARA, the Foreign Agents Registration Act. He is in violation of that. If Joe Biden even knew or understood that he was representing foreign entities, without being licensed to do so or registered to do so, he is a co-conspirator in a violation of the federal regulations and statutes under the United States law.”
In August, Rep. Donalds stated that the Department of Justice has been “obstructing justice” when relating to the investigation of Joe Biden and the Biden family.
