Florida Congressional Delegation Remembers Dianne Feinstein

Long-serving Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has passed away at the age of 90. Florida lawmakers have issued statements and taken to X (formerly Twitter) to pay their respects.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) spoke on X that he and his wife were "heartbroken" to hear the news, saying they were praying "for her family, staff and all who knew and loved her."

"Ann and I are heartbroken by the loss of Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Dianne’s more than 30 years in the Senate reflect a life of service to her state of California and our nation. We are praying for her family, staff and all who knew and loved her," said Sen. Scott.

Representative Darren Soto (D-FL) mourned the loss of "an icon and a trailblazer" who "will be remembered as a fearless advocate for safety and a champion for California."

"Our nation has lost an icon and a trailblazer. Senator Dianne Feinstein will be remembered as a fearless advocate for safety and a champion for California. May her memory be a blessing and her legacy live on in the next generation of leaders," tweeted Rep. Soto.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) similarly called Feinstein "a political pioneer with a historic career of public service" who was "Intelligent, hard working & always treated everyone with courtesy & respect."

"Senator Feinstein was a political pioneer with a historic career of public service. Intelligent, hard working & always treated everyone with courtesy & respect. May God grant her eternal rest," said Sen. Rubio

Representative Debbie Wasserman Scultz (D-FL) praised Feinstein as "making history on AIDS response to gun reforms. We worked closely on breast cancer screening access & the 2013 inauguration and her legacy of laws to protect women, children & marriage equality is heroic," adding "May her memory be a blessing."

Representative Maxwell Frost (D-FL) similarly said of Feinstein that "our country would not be where it is today without Senator Dianne Feinstein."

"On gun violence, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive healthcare and so much more — our country would not be where it is today without Senator Dianne Feinstein. Her memory inspires us to keep fighting for the world our people deserve. May she rest in peace," said Rep. Frost.
