AmeriHealth Caritas Florida Goes Beyond Call of Duty, Provides Thousands of Children with School Supplies

Share

As the  2023-2024 school year is officially underway at all levels of academia, AmeriHealth Caritas Florida has gone beyond the call of duty and provided more than 4,000 school children with supplies as they venture into the learning sphere.

As prices of school supplies can lighten parents’ wallets, AmeriHealth Caritas Florida has made an effort to aid those in need by helping community members by supporting back-to-school events hosted by local organizations.

“The cost of school supplies for low-income families may mean sacrificing money for necessities,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Florida Market President Melody Bonomo. “As part of our commitment to build strong communities, we’re working to help alleviate that burden for families, while also helping to support the education of children and youths.”

According to a report by the National Retail Federation, families with children in the K-12 system will spend $890 on average this school year, the highest it has ever been.

In addition to the 12 local organizations that AmeriHealth Caritas Florida supported, they also contributed to two nonprofits, Be Strong International and Branches.

According to AmeriHealth Caritas Florida, the organization operates as a “Medicaid managed care plan through Florida’s Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program,” serving enrollees living in Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties.
