Miami Mayor Francis Suarez (R) has released a new advertisement. In the ad, Mayor Suarez cites that Republicans have been holding out for a Republican “wave” that has yet to appear. Calling on Republicans to “build one” as opposed to waiting for it to happen, Suarez makes the push for a more engaged Republican party.
In the advertisement, Mayor Suarez is out in the ocean, sitting on a surfboard, and speaking to the camera. “We Republicans have been sitting out here waiting on the wave for a long time,” Suarez said, adding that Republicans “need to stop waiting and start building our own wave.”
Suarez then urges Republicans to take a different approach to campaigning, citing states and demographics that Republicans need to enlist the support of in order to win in the upcoming election.
“If we want to win in places like Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado, we need to win Hispanic voters,” Suarez said, adding that “in places like New Hampshire and Wisconsin, we need to win back suburban women voters.”
Ultimately, Suarez affirms that “if we want a wave, then let’s build one – otherwise, we’re gonna be sitting out here forever.”
Since announcing his presidential aspirations, Suarez has struggled in the polls. He’s faced pushback from Republicans, and he’s been sinking in the polls despite calling himself the best candidate to bridge the divide in a polarized political world.
In the most recent National Republican Primary Poll, Suarez was at the bottom of the list with 0.0% of support. This doesn’t dissuade Suarez as he maintains that voters will ultimately elect him because of his political record.
The first Republican primary debate will take place on August 23 in Milwaukee.
Suarez has not qualified to join President Donald Trump (R) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on the debate stage.
