Suarez Says DeSantis Campaign is ‘in Decline’

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez (R) is now criticizing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) presidential campaign. In an interview with CNN over the weekend, Mayor Suarez took a political swipe at Governor DeSantis over his campaign being “in decline.”

In the interview, Governor DeSantis’ campaign was the topic of discussion. Primarily, before announcing his presidential aspiration, Governor DeSantis was seen as a frontrunner in the Republican primary race. Since announcing his candidacy, Governor DeSantis has floundered in the polls.

When Mayor Suarez was asked if he would be “attached” to the DeSantis campaign as an unsuccessful presidential candidate from Florida, Suarez said that it was highly unlikely because he’s “done radically different things.”

“I’ve been the only candidate to cut a public sector budget by the same amount that we have to cut the federal budget. I’m the only candidate that’s actually lowered taxes. We’ve lowered taxes in Miami to the lowest level in history and have seen unprecedented growth. 14% last year, 12% the year before, that 4 times what the state of Florida has grown, and we’ve kept our city safe,” he said, attempting to distinguish himself from DeSantis.

Instead, Suarez said that voters are worried about homelessness, rising crime, and fentanyl affecting their communities.

Similar to when he recently downplayed the Republican efforts to impeach President Joe Biden (D), Suarez also disregarded current efforts to prosecute Hunter Biden. He called it another effort to distract voters from the important matters at hand, and he affirmed that “the only prosecution I want to talk about is how we prosecute a plan for American prosperity to benefit the American people.”

Despite President Donald Trump (R) not signing the RNC pledge to support the Republican nominee, Suarez said that he will follow the rules by pledging to support the nominee, adding that he will get on the debate stage and that his campaign will “gain momentum.”
